Established in 1989, the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre (SCDT) was officially incorporated as a professional dance company under the support of the National Arts Council and Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan in 2014. SCDT envisions to be a world class dance company that epitomises the preservation and promotion of Chinese dance through artistic and creative excellence and breakthroughs. The company strives to provide valuable performing opportunities for outstanding performers and seeks to present more innovative, engaging performances to its audiences.


SCDT is currently looking to recruit full-time company dancers (male and female) who have positive work traits, a strong sense of professionalism and team spirit, is physically fit, and is willing to help the company in its mission to preserve and promote Chinese dance.


Job Requirement:

1. Hold a professional dance diploma/degree under a recognised arts tertiary institution

2. Strong, professional performing abilities, and rich in body expression

3. Good image and body proportions, and in good health

4. Good character, including career professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility

5. Good communication skills and eloquent in language

6. Be between 18 and 25 years old


Job Description:

1. Dance technical training and body conditioning, dance choreography and rehearsals in addition to dance performances

2. Actively participate in planning and executing the company’s events

Audition Details:

Date and Time: 8 January 2017 (Sunday), 2pm – 5pm

Venue: Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre (5 Sennett Road, Singapore 466781)


There will be 3 segments during the audition, including a dance technique showcase, dance repertoire presentation and improvisation.

Suitable candidates should be:


1. Above 18 years old

2. Embrace lifelong learning

3. Have a passion to teach and motivates their students to excel to their best ability

4. Love interacting with children

5. Able to excel under both team and individual settings


Suitable candidates are to teach foundation class and Chinese Ethnic Folk Dance Graded Examination syllabus to young children. Teaching courses will be conducted in December for successful candidates. Prior knowledge of Chinese Ethnic Folk dance is helpful, but not essential.
