Tay Huey Meng or Meng as he commonly know, started as a performer in the mid 80’s and was an artist with SAF Music and Drama Company. In late 80’s, he become a full time Production Stage Manager with Singapore Dance Theatre. Meng left SDT in 95’ and become a freelance Production Manager, Technical Manager and Lighting Designer.


Besides taking on most of Singapore Dance Theatre and Singapore Lyric Opera production, he had work with company like TheatreWork, Singapore Repertory Theatre, Wild Rice Production, Dream Academy Production just to name a few.


Aside from the Art scene, he also involve in many commercial show like Jazz Festival as Logistic Manager, Radio Music Award as Technical Stage Manger, Santosa’s Sandsation and Sentosa Count Down event as Stage Manager. He was also the technical/stage manager for several other projects to name a few big productions, “Cooking” a Korean production, “That’s Kit” Kit Chan Solo Concert and JJ Lin Concert in Singapore Indoor Stadium. International event included Production Technical Manager for Royal Academy of Dance’s “Genee International Ballet Competition 2009”. Technical Stage Manager for “Singapore Day” in Shanghai World Expo 2010.


In March 2004 – Dec 2005, Meng was the Technical Manager and Lighting Executor for Singapore longest running Magic Musical under Gateway Entertainment. This production tours Thailand, Malaysia, US, China, Japan and Korea.


His work brought him to many countries: Moscow with Arts House for Spot Light Singapore, London for Singapore Day with SDT, and many other include France, Australia, Taiwan, Honk Kong, US, Turkey and list goes on.


Apart from production work, Meng is also an experienced Lighting Designer. His lighting design projects range from Modern Dance, Chinese Dance, to Indian Dance, from Drama to Chinese Opera. Productions include Seventy-Two Tenants, a Teochew drama, and performances for Odyssey Dance Theatre.  Singapore Youth Festival 2001, 2004 to 2009. As Lighting Designer (1995 – 2001) for Singapore Chinese Girls’ School’s Dance Concert and designed the schools’ new lighting system in 1998. Meng is also involved with Singapore Management University Convocation, Dance Concert and Musical since 2007.  


Meng also enjoy singing, he came in 1st in the Youth section of the Chinese Folk Song Competition organised by the National Theatre Trust in 1985.
